Horizons for Youth is a shelter for at-risk and homeless youth between the ages of 16-24 years old in Toronto. We provide youth with the support they need to escape from the cycle of poverty and leave the streets behind.

  • The average length of stay at Horizons for Youth is 3 months

  • Our average capacity was approximately 99% in 2019

  • Horizons for Youth offers hundreds of workshops and field trips each year, which help our youth gain the skills they need to live independently

  • Every year, over 300 volunteers donate their time to Horizons for Youth

  • Our staff refer clients to many services in the community, including employment agencies, school programs, mental health and wellness services, legal assistance programs and settlement services

  • Horizons for Youth offers 24 hour intake services, 365 days a year, to ensure that young people in need of a safe place to stay can access one at all times

  • Horizons for Youth provided shelter, daily meals and programs to 365 youth in 2019

  • Our agency supported 98 Community Support clients in 2019. These clients previously resided at Horizons for Youth and now live in the community, but still rely on support from our agency

  • Horizons for Youth served over 40,000 meals and 30,000 snacks last year
