PLESAE NOTE: THERE ARE NO MORE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR DECEMBER 24 CHRISTMAS EVE AND DECEMBER 25 CHRISTMAS DAY.  THERE ARE STILL OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE  ON OTHER DAYS DURING THE HOLIDAYS AND INTO THE NEW YEAR.

Volunteer opportunities are available to individuals as well as groups. Whether you would like to gather friends or family, organize a work committee, or just come in on your own spare time, we welcome your help. Our volunteer coordinator can develop an itinerary that caters to the strengths and interests of you and your group members while addressing the needs of our shelter.

Volunteers can contribute in the following areas:

One area of volunteering that is always needed is to volunteer at one of our Fundraising events or organize a donation drive for the youth at Horzions.

Other volunteer activities include:

Assisting With Meals: You need not be a chef to help at meal time for our residents. Under the guidance of our cook, volunteers can prepare and serve meals to our residents, as well as help clean up after.

General Upkeep: A 45-bed shelter requires constant and continual upkeep. Volunteers can contribute by helping organize our donation and linen rooms, cleaning uptidying our food storage room or even, applying a fresh coat of paint. Some of these volunteer tasks are availbale during the weekday Monday through Friday.

Administrative Assistance: Our intake office is perpetually abuzz. Ensuring that files are properly organized and that our paperwork is in order allows us to focus more on the youth we serve.

Tutoring: A number of our residents are currently enrolled in school. The difficulties of pursuing an education while residing in a shelter cannot be overstated. Many residents would benefit from individual attention and encouragement as they look to meet their academic goals. Perhaps you have the expertise and initiative to provide this support.  This volunteer opportunity will work with the Educational cordinator on availablity and need for tutoring.
